Qualcomm: In Indonesia, CDMA Not Be Dead


JAKARTA - The sound of CDMA-based telecommunication services are still drifted in Indonesia. Prominence is less with the GSM, will make this technology disappear in the homeland? It is said Senior Director & Country Manager of Qualcomm, Harry K. Nugraha, it is not possible. According to CDMA will not die, instead will continue to grow. 

"CDMA will not die and will continue to grow. The response of the decrease is not due to CDMA technology, but because of the availability of frequency spectrum of each operator," said Harry in Jakarta, Wednesday (01/12/2011). He added that he believes if the CDMA will still have a marketshare in Indonesia.Because Qualcomm also will never stop developing these technologies. "The growth of CDMA will still be good. For the service side are still going to continue to grow," he explained. One effort in developing Qualcomm CDMA service is to create a chip with a smaller size but still provide fast performance, of course, with energy consumption is made more efficient. Harry further explained, the data owned by Qualcomm, in 2009 and CDMA smartphone market share was approximately 15 percent, while in 2014 it later Qualcomm predicts that figure will increase to 45 percent. In addition, the number of total worldwide smartphone shipments in 2012 to 2014 will reach 2.5 billion units. In the period 2009 to 2014 later, low-end smartphones will dominate with the level of sales increased 9 times the delivery of high-end smartphones, while rising only 3 times in that period.
