Microsoft Objection term 'App Store' Patented


WASHINGTON - Microsoft asked the Patent and Trademark United States to reject Apple's patent application on behalf of the 'App Store'. Microsoft insists, 'App Store' is a general term so that competitors had the right to use it. Apple's patent apply to all products and services, 2008. 

In the same year, Apple launched the App Store for the iPhone as well as introducing the iPhone 3G. Now the store can be accessed digitally via all devices that use Apple's IOS software, such as the iPod Touch and IPAD. Most recently, Apple introduced a digital store App Store Mac software for Mac OS X, beginning January 2011. Reuters reported on Wednesday (12/01/2011), recently Microsoft filed an objection to the Patent and Trademark Agency, and asked them to reject an application for Apple's patented the name 'App Store'. In its claim, Microsoft asserts, 'app' is the general term of what is offered App Store.While the 'stores' (store) is a general term for retail store services. Not only that Bill Gates-owned company that was using the words of Apple CEO, Steve Jobs, to reinforce their demands. Microsoft quoted Jobs saying in an interview, "Amazon, Verizon and Vodafone have announced that they will launch an application store (app store) itself for Android." "App store is a generic name that should not be used exclusively by Apple. All the competitors should be free to use the term 'app store' to store names and their respective services," the quote in the file submitted by Microsoft.
