SAN FRANCISCO - IBM has preached cooperation with ARM to develop the latestgeneration of mobile processor which is claimed to have maximum performance andlow power consumption.
Overall, this latest generation chip has the ability to extend battery life, maximizingInternet access, multimedia-capable running high.
"We chose these companies because during the ARM Cortex processor are well known in most smart phones and many mobile devices that use their processors,"explained general manager of IBM Microelectronics Michael Cadigan, as reported byTG Daily, Wednesday (19/01/2011).
"We plan to continue to work with ARM and hope that consumers can enjoy themomentum of ARM technology that brings high speed with low strength incommunications and computing variants of other products," he added.
Cadigan According to the above-mentioned collaboration between two industryheavyweights will produce the product line down to 14 nanometer architecture.
Cadigan also noted that the joint IBM-ARM on advanced geometry actually started in2008, which resulted in increased density, SOC, routability, manufacturability, power consumption and performance.
"ARM developed a special optimization that targets the RISC-based processor cores, including a complete core processor ARM Cortex-A9 is implemented in 32nmtechnology, High-K Metal Gate," he said.
