Yahoo Employees Threatened Back Crop

CALIFORNIA - Yahoo Inc. again threatened decreased revenue in the first quarter of 2011, following a disappointing record of traffic.
Internet company from California that experienced a decrease page views during thethree consecutive quarters. CEO Carol Bartz, who took over leadership of the company two years ago, began to feel the pressure to restore the glory of Yahoo.
No doubt, the threat of mass layoffs come back to haunt Yahoo. Still attached to thememory of when Yahoo cut its 1600 employees to cut spending in 2008. In 2009Yahoo was reducing its work force up to five percent, or approximately 675employees.
In the first quarter of 2011, Yahoo pointed out would reduce the approximately one per cent of workers forces around the world, as reported by Netimperative, Friday(28/01/2011).
By contrast, their biggest competitor, Google, just announced a massive recruitmentplans this year. Even so Bartz remain optimistic the situation will improve.
"I will not give up because now we face the right momentum," he said.

Q4 2010, Nokia Net Profit Down 21%

Sony Promises 'Next Generation Portable' Year

TOKYO - Sony is committed to launch its PlayStation Portable gaming device this year. The device has a quality equivalent to a home gaming console and a bigger screen. This commitment also shows the efforts from Japan's electronics manufacturers to avert a serious threat from competitors. Not just from Nintendo DS but also of the kinds of Apple smartphone vendors. According to Sony, the popularity of the iPhone and other smartphones have the potential to threaten the game device manufacturers. The reason is not only smartphones can be used to call, watch videos, view email, or chat, but also to play games. Even with the availability of applications, and iPods tend to be iPad device for playing games. Sony also introduced a new device, which he called the Next Generations Portable.This device is equipped with motion sensors, GPS-based location technology. "With the motion sensor and GPS technology, gamers can play golf simply by moving the device. It also can kill monsters in a way shake the screen, or play other games similar to virtual reality," said Sony's game division chief, Kazuo Hirai was quoted as saying by Hosted, Friday (01/28/2011). This device has a touch-panel on the front and touch-pad in the back to allow the player pressing machine when I want to move the picture. There was also a regular button and switch to complete the keypad to simplify the process of playing games. Sony is also providing third-generation wireless connection and wifi to access social networking while playing the game or to download directly. The screen size of five inches with OLED technology that can deliver quality images and good color. Even four times better than the previous PSP. "This is the Next Generation Portable. We'll give you what you need in the world of entertainment. We want to create a revolution in your hands," said Hirai. In the portable gaming market, Sony's deal with Japan's Nintendo, which will introduce a new DS to feature 3-D glasses free tabulan front. Unfortunately NGP will not include 3-D. Microsoft was a major player with the Xbox 360 while not providing a portable gaming device.

Nintendo Profit 'Free Fall'

TOKYO - Nintendo's net profit for nine months decreased 74 percent, following a decrease in sales of the Wii console significantly. Disappointing results were encouraging creators phenomenal game Super Mario cut its sales target for the video game device. Similarly, as reported by the Associated Press, Thursday (01/27/2011).  Nintendo announced that net profit 49.56 billion yen (USD603 million) in the nine months ended December 31, 2010. In fact, Nintendo recorded 192.6 billion yen profit for the same period a year earlier.  Nintendo sales declined 32 percent to 808 billion yen, while operating profit fell 47 percent to 158.8 billion yen.   Party Nintendo reveals, although the sales figures somewhat higher in the holiday season, Wii and DS sales in the United States have fallen dramatically.  Following the report, Nintendo has set a target to sell 16 million Wii consoles in the first quarter to 31 March. This figure is much less compared to previous expectations, which reached 17.5 million consoles.   Not only that, Nintendo DS also cut its sales estimate as many as one million to a total of 22.5 million units. Now, Nintendo hopes a lot of portable games console sales 3DS to boost corporate earnings. 3DS scheduled to go on sale on 26 February in Japan, before reaching the U.S., March 27, 2011.  Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said the company plans to sell approximately 1.5 million units 3DS during the first month in Japan.

'Call of Duty' Cause bombing Moscow Airport?
